The book takes you to a dystopian world where the present civilization that we are already in is destroyed completely by the man-made hazards and havocs.
And the story begins with four individuals (children), two boys and two girls, who accidentally come across a magical pendant each with a unique gemstone from their workplace. And somehow one night while having a look at the pendant they are transported to an alternate dimension which is a magical land and it belongs to Shantiputra, the protector of the different realms of the universe.

Shantiputra endows all these individuals with extraordinary powers and makes them aware of the future danger that lies for the whole of humanity. And in order to protect that, all five of them have to work together and defeat the evil-banished king called Sankatputra.

The characters, the story seemed interesting and gripping but it ended abruptly. The book isn't even a novel to leave at a tight-spot and leave the readers hanging.If some action-filled chapters along with some logical conclusion would have followed then the book would have felt like an overall amazing short-fantasy read.

This is a children's Novel written by Thomas Allibone Janvier in 1898. Recently this book is re-issued by Kessinger Publishing. I came across this book while browsing the awsome collection of Project Gutenberg. Its mysterious name compelled me to read this century old book. Its digital format helped me to carry it wherever I went and allowed me to read it in spare time. Yet due to slow reading pace, it took me very long time to complete it. When I first saw its title "In the Sagasso Sea", I remembered my school days, when I had learned about the Sargasso Sea in the Atlantic Ocean. Also I am a great fan of the Bermuda Triangle mystery.
