Amish Tripathi - Sita Warrior of Mithila Rating - ****

The book by Amish Tripathi that tells the story of Sita, a warrior princess who is abandoned as an infant and adopted by King Janak and his wife Sunaina as their heir. The book is the second in the Ramchandra series and is a retelling of the Ramayana from Sita’s perspective.

Amish successfully creates a world that is much more than mere mysticism or magic; it is a world that is intricate and dramatic and most of all, infused with humanity. The same review also notes that Sita is portrayed as a warrior princess who proves herself as an able administrator and strategist, and her marksmanship surpasses the skills of her male peers. The book for has a weak storyline and slow flow. The book is creativ and has endearing portrayal of Sita, but the plot is not without its flaws.

It is worth noting that the book has been praised for its portrayal of Sita as a strong and capable woman, which is a refreshing take on the traditional Ramayana story. The book is alternative mythological story based on original characters of Ramayana. The story is very different from original tale and author have taken full freedom to twist & turn his story as per his convenience. The people of India who believes Lord Ram as a god and Ramayana as a holy script, the story may sound very offensive against their religious beliefs.
